New Alloy: Inconel® 617 is now available from Alloy Wire. Learn about Inconel® 617
Alloy Wire International enjoyed significant interest at the Advanced Engineering Show last week, with potential customers from all over the UK heading to its stand.
Staff from AWI were on hand in Birmingham to talk to manufacturers from every area of industry imaginable, with significant interest in its ability to offer straight bar below 10mm diameter.
This is extremely applicable to companies who ‘turn’ bar to make small components supplied into units that have to withstand very high temperatures and/or corrosive environments.
“It was a very busy exhibition – we even had some potential clients who were on our stand after it had finished, discussing our production capabilities in shaped wire,” explained Stephen Olley, Sales Executive at Alloy Wire International.
“Everyone we spoke to was saying how busy they were, which is great for UK manufacturing. There was the occasional discussion about Brexit and what might happen after March 29th, but the overwhelming feeling was to keep working and make the most of whatever situation we are dealt with. Increasing our alloy stockholding was applauded as a very proactive and welcome move.
“As well as this, people were talking about composites and 3D printing, with discussions about how they could use nickel alloy wire that can be woven into carbon fibre…a new area for us to supply wire into.”
One of the stranger enquiries taken by the AWI team focused on the company’s ability to make small quantities of precision wire with minimal waste. This would be ideal for processing wire from free issue precious metals such as silver, platinum and gold.
